AARHUS, Denmark, Oct. 10, 2006 - The U.S. Men's Team trained on the podium in the competition hall today as part of its preparations for the 2006 World Championships, Oct. 14-21, in Aarhus, Denmark. The U.S. Men are competing in Subdivision 1, which will compete in the first session on Saturday, Oct. 14, which begins at 9 a.m. Denmark time.
"The guys have been great, especially dealing with the early times," said Ron Brant, the men's national team coordinator. "Each day, they become more comfortable with their surroundings, and getting on the podium gave them an even better feel for the event.
The U.S. Men's Team has been training in Aarhus for the past five days to get acclimated to the city and local time zone. The members of the men's 2006 World Championships Team are: Guillermo Alvarez of Denver; Alexander Artemev of Morrison, Colo.; Jonathan Horton of Houston; David Sender of Arlington Heights, Ill.; Clay Strother of Jasper, Texas; Kevin Tan of Fremont, Calif.; and David Durante of Garfield, N.J., alternate.
"The guys have trained well," said Brant. "They are now getting more consistent with the equipment, and they are excited about getting out and showing what they can do."
The men's competition, which begins on Oct. 14, has nine subdivisions. The preliminary rounds conclude on the evening of Oct. 15 and the men's team finals are Oct. 17. The men's all-around finals are Oct. 19, with the individual event finals on Oct. 20-21.
